7 Months

7 Months
June 20, 2013

We changed up a few things on you this month.... sleeping in your own room in your crib and trying solid foods.  You have done great with both!  Your daddy and I are so proud of you!

You are doing great sleeping in your own room.  You go down easily right after a bottle around 8pm and you wake up usually just once (sometimes twice) for a bottle.  We just hand you a bottle and let you feed yourself and then you are happy and go right back to sleep.

You are a big fan of having something other than milk to eat!  Anything we put in front of you, you seem to enjoy!  The first food you tried was peas and you ate it all up!  You are starting to grab at the spoon wanting to play with it which sometimes makes a mess!  But you just smile and laugh which makes us smile.  You are such a delightful, sweet boy!

I think your dad comments every day how blessed we are to have you and he is right!

6 Months

6 Months
May 20, 2013

These last couple of months have really gone by fast with me being back at work.  You have done so well with that transition.  You sleep every morning on our long commute and then you take a nap in the afternoon on the way home.  It has really worked out well.  I really appreciate that you did not cry once for me at all while I was driving!

You absolutely love when I sing "I Love to Tell the Story" ~ if you get the least bit fussy you stop as soon as I start singing.  If I try to stop singing, you let me quickly know that you would like me to continue singing. You are the first person who has ever wanted me to sing!  One morning in the car, I sang for 30 minutes straight and then you fell asleep!

You still have a hearty appetite!  You do not like going longer than 3 hours without a bottle.  I am doing the best I can pumping at work!  I am so glad that I had built up a nice supply to freeze because you go through the milk fast!

I am counting down the days ~ just a few weeks left ~ until I am able to stay home with you full time and our long commute is done!

5 Months

5 Months
April 20, 2013

I have absolutely loved the last 5 months being your mommy.  You are continuing to make it very easy for your daddy and me to be parents.  We are so blessed to have you.

It is so much fun to watch you grow.  You are trying so hard to lift your head and sit up.  When you are in your car seat, you try to lift up to get out.  It is so cute to watch you try so hard.

You are still doing great commuting to Locust Grove with me every day (not much longer until we are done doing that! YEAH!!).  You really love being at Aunt Brittany’s and seeing your cousins, Annistyn and Mackenzie, every day.  Aunt Brittany says you just sit and stare at Annistyn all day.  You usually wake up when I get you out of the car in the morning and I absolutely love the few extra minutes I get to spend with you.  You are all smiles when you wake up.

One of my favorite things so far has been listening to your laugh.  You are a little ticklish so that gets you laughing and you also love when we make silly noises.  Whenever we try to videotape you laughing though you immediately stop once you see the camera.

You are getting more and more flexible and you are trying to get your toes to your mouth ~ you like to see if everything can go in your mouth!  You have started sucking your two fingers like your daddy used to.  You are still not a fan of a pacifier.

You have tried rice cereal, and you don’t seem to mind it but you are a little impatient at trying to eat it off a spoon.  We make you take a few bites, but then you get annoyed that you are not able to eat fast enough so we finish it off in the bottle.  You have always enjoyed sitting at the table with us while we ate dinner, and now you are sitting in your high chair.  You seem to like being higher up.

One of your favorite things is being lifted up in the air.  We know it is going to get us an automatic smile!

Happy 4 Months!

Dearest Jake,

Wow what a great 4 months it has been! Definitely better than your daddy and I imagined!
You are really starting to get stronger and more alert. You are holding your head up on your own and you try to stretch out of your car seat. You love to be held especially if the person holding you is standing.  You only like facing out when being held though so you can see everything!

Life changed the week before you turned 4 months as I went back to work to finish the school year. I know it's temporary but I sure do miss our days together! You have adjusted just fine though. I went back to work on a Wednesday and your daddy worked from home for three days. He had a great time with you, but he also saw it is not an easy job taking care of a baby all day! I think he'll understand if the house is not spotless when he gets home from work!

Your Aunt Brittany is watching you the next few months during the day while I work.  You love seeing your cousins Annistyn and Mackenzie everyday.  You have done a great job with our long commute (over an hour).  You sleep in the morning the whole way there and you sleep some on the way or just listen to mommy sing (I'm sorry!  You seem to like my singing!)

I'm putting my career on hold for awhile after this school year to stay home with you! I feel so blessed to be able to do that! It is definitely the best gift to be able to spend so much time with you! Definitely better than any material possession!

You have been a very happy baby. You smile all the time and have recently really started laughing! It's the best sound ever to hear you chuckle!

We took you to the doctor the other day for your 4-month check up. You weighed 14lbs and 4.5oz. You are 24.5 inches long. You are definitely our growing boy! The doctor was concerned that your head grew a little too much since your last check up so you will have an ultrasound done in a couple of days. The doctor told us not too worry that it probably just means you have a bigger brain and will be really smart!

Jake's First Trip to the Lake!

Jake loved his first trip to the lake.
March 9, 2013

Jake's first time on the boat ~ I think he liked it!

Jake thought the boat made a good place for a nap!

Just enjoying being outside on the swing!

Fun as a family of 3 at the lake!

Meemaw and Pawpaw came to visit as well at the lake ~ Meemaw loved holding Jake!

So fun that Jake gets to be close to so many aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and great-grandparents!
