New Year's Eve

Brian has enjoyed being many wonderful places on New Years Eve ~ The Virgin Islands, New Orleans, New York City, but this year he enjoyed just being at home in Grayson with me and Jake!  I have never been a huge fan of New Years Eve ~ I don't like being out in the cold ~ so staying in was perfect for me!  Probably my favorite New Years Eve ever!

My handsome New Year's Eve date (one of them)
I wanted to do something a little different and special for Brian and I for food that night...
Shrimp Cocktail for appetizer
Cheese balls (healthy because it used rice instead of flour)
I made lobster tails, crab cakes, cheesy garlic biscuits, parmesan green beans, and caesar salad
I also made Oreo truffles and white chocolate covered strawberries, but I guess we ate them before we got a picture of them!
Happy New Year! It's 2013!

These two pictures make me laugh.  I guess Jake was not a fan of the kiss at midnight!

Jake enjoyed his first New Year's Eve!

Sick, little boy

Brian came down with a cold and unfortunately he passed it on to Jake.
Jake was coughing and sneezing. His little sneezes are the sweetest thing. The worst part was Jake had trouble breathing. Sometimes he would wake up scared because he could not breathe (also scared me sometimes!). We tried using the bulb syringe from the hospital but it was too big for his little nose.
I looked on google and in some of our baby books, and they all said to take any baby under 3 months of age to the doctor at the first sign of a cold.

I called the doctor first thing Monday morning (New Year's Eve). We got an appointment for a couple hours later. I felt much better knowing we were doing everything possible to help Jake feel better.

Jake was diagnosed with bronchiolitis. We were told to get him a humidifier with Vicks in it, give him a little Benadryl, and put saline drops in his nose.

We've done those things, and Jake has been so good! Such a trooper! You wouldn't know he was sick... Still just being a sweet baby!

Best Christmas Ever!

When Brian and I were dating, I said that was the best Christmas ever. Then the next year we were engaged and I said that was the best Christmas ever. Then the next year we were married and I said that was the best Christmas. Now, a year later we have a son and I said this was the best Christmas ever! Even though Jake was only a month old, it was still so special to have a baby with us and do Christmas for him.
Our traditional Christmas breakfast ~ Pigs in a blanket and fruit
After breakfast it was time for presents (well after we took a few pictures of our little guy!)

Brian and I started the tradition last year to get each other an ornament that had some significance to our year  ~ Brian got this Baby's First Christmas one for me
Our family picture Christmas morning ~ Jake had done so well get photographed earlier, he decided he had to have a bottle before any more pictures

 Now it's time for presents...

After spending some time together at our house as a little family of 3, we headed to my parents' house for lunch and presents.
