A Fabulous Fourth

We had a wonderful Fourth of July on Lake Oconee hosting some of our friends and their families. I have been friends with Melinda and Rachel since middle school, and we always have a great time. We all arrived Tuesday night, and the festivities started right away with some sparklers!

We stayed up late that night talking and catching up. Luckily, the kids all slept in a little later the next morning!

We enjoyed breakfast together and then all went on the boat together. We just cruised around for a little while, and then decided to anchor and get out and swim and float. The weather was perfect- sunny and low 90's. I even got in the water for a few minutes, but I did get cold so I just chilled on the boat the rest of the afternoon with my friends. The guys and kids stayed in the water much longer!

We had some tired kids on the boat ride back home...

We headed back to the house for a late lunch- yummy!! Brian grilled hamburgers and hot dogs while the kids made patriotic food skewers.

We had lots of food... Stuffed!

But... Still always room for dessert! Melinda made a delicious ice cream sandwich cake! I will definitely be borrowing this recipe idea! Ice cream sandwiches, Oreos, hot fudge, and cool whip= yummy!!!

The Fourth being on a Wednesday definitely cut into the fun as our company all had to get back to work Thursday, so they all had to leave before the fireworks. It was a great day together though!
Some other fun pictures from the day...
